It has an outer container made of copper and plated by using chromium or SS on both exterior and interior. An ebonite cover is provided to close it. To the container, a terminal block is attached to make a connection to the firing control.
It has an effective stirring mechanism which provides required turbulence for uniform and quick stirring without leaving any heat to the water in calorimeter. An impeller stirrer installed in it runs at a fixed speed of about 800RPM. The impeller is driven by a motor through a belt with the help of an offset arrangement. This prevents heat from getting transferred from motor to calorimeter vessel parts.
Electronic Firing Unit with Digital Backman Thermometer:
This unit consists of an electronic box and a electrical box for the accurate digital thermometer reading. Components of electronic box include terminals for fuse and a socket for stirrer. Functions of open circuit or firing wire resistance is provided with the unit. A bulb fitted on the left hand side indicates continuity while firing is indicated by a light fitted on the right hand side.
Different forms of crucible are provided. The standard model is supplied with 8 ml capacity crucible made of stainless steel. It gets easily fitted in a standard support ring of the outfit.
